IPL
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a state-of-the-art technology used in dermatology and aesthetic medicine to treat a variety of skin problems. At Leman Aesthetic Clinic, we offer IPL photo rejuvenation treatments to improve your skin’s appearance, reduce signs of aging and correct imperfections.
What is Intense Pulsed Light?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive aesthetic medicine technique that uses broad-spectrum light beams to target skin pigments. Unlike lasers, which use a specific wavelength, IPL emits several wavelengths. Intense pulsed light can be used to treat a wide range of skin problems and restore radiance to the complexion.
IPL photo rejuvenation: what are the indications?
Intense pulsed light photo rejuvenation is indicated for a variety of skin conditions. It can correct pigmentation spots caused by the sun, and diffuse redness such as rosacea. It also helps fade superficial lines and wrinkles, stretch marks and scars. IPL is effective for reducing dilated pores and improving skin texture. Finally, small visible blood vessels, such as telangiectasias, can also be treated with this method.
What precautions should I take before an intense pulsed light session?
Before an Intense Pulsed Light session, we recommend that you take certain precautions to prepare your skin properly. Avoid sun exposure and tanning booths for at least two weeks before the treatment, as well as the application of self-tanning products. Tell your doctor about your current treatments, as certain medications can make the skin more sensitive to light. Finally, don’t use irritating or exfoliating products a few days before the session.
Procedure for an IPL session at Leman Aesthetic Clinic
An IPL treatment at Leman Aesthetic Clinic includes an initial consultation. The surgeon performs a thorough examination of your skin to determine the areas to be treated and assess your phototype. The treatment then follows. The skin is cleansed and a conductive gel is used to improve contact between the skin and the device. The practitioner sweeps the IPL over the targeted areas. The procedure may cause a slight tingling sensation or heat. At the end of the session, a moisturizing and soothing cream is applied to reduce irritation.
Recovery after intense pulsed light treatment
After an intense pulsed light session, it’s normal to experience slight redness and swelling, like a sunburn. These benign reactions fade in a few hours to a few days. To optimize recovery and results, we recommend avoiding direct exposure to the sun, using sunscreen factor 50, moisturizing the skin regularly with a mild cream, and refraining from strenuous physical activity 24 to 48 hours after treatment.
Are there any contraindications to IPL treatment?
IPL treatment is very well tolerated. However, there are a few rare contraindications, such as very tanned skin, recent use of self-tanning products or photosensitizing medications. In addition, IPL is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Active skin infections or inflammation in the area to be treated, as well as a history of skin cancer, are also obstacles to this method.
What are the results of photo rejuvenation with light?
The results of intense pulsed light treatment are highly satisfactory. There is a visible reduction in pigmentation spots and redness, smoother, more even skin, and a reduction in dilated pores and fine lines. The more even, luminous complexion offers rejuvenation and radiance to the face.
