Eyebrow Lift

The loss of skin elasticity due to aging causes the eyelid and eyebrow to sag. An eyebrow lift, or temporal lift, corrects this drooping of the eyebrow. It rejuvenates the eye area by lifting the skin and muscle structures and smoothing out crow’s feet wrinkles. An eyebrow lift can be combined with a blepharoplasty when the upper eyelid has excess skin that weighs down the eyes. These two surgeries are also very frequently performed separately.

An eyebrow lift is suitable for anyone looking to improve the upper part of a face with drooping eyebrows and heavy eyelids. It can be relevant for individuals over 40 whose eyebrow droop is due to loss of skin elasticity and thus aging. Not only can eyebrow ptosis cause you to look older than you are and sometimes result in a resting cranky appearance, but it can also begin to impact your field of vision if left untreated. The temporal lift is also indicated to correct congenital ptosis and can therefore be offered to younger patients.

It is very precise but involves a slight scar on top of the eyebrow. This scar is barely visible and can be easily camouflaged with makeup or eyebrow microblading.

Precapillary Eyebrow Lift

In this case, the incision is made at the junction of the hairline and the forehead. This avoids a scar at the eyebrow level. This technique is most suitable for patients with a slightly short forehead who wear their hair relatively long.

Gliding Brow Lift

The GBL is a fairly innovative technique that allows for an almost scarless eyebrow lift by detaching and repositioning the tissues. The postoperative recovery is slightly longer, but the final result leaves no visible scar.

The postoperative course of an eyebrow lift is relatively simple and painless. The sensation of skin tightness is relieved by level 1 analgesics. Bruising and swelling are present in the first few days. It is advisable to keep the head slightly elevated and apply ice for the first 48 hours to promote their resolution. The scar should be cleaned with mild soap every day until the stitches are removed one week after the procedure.

The effects of the eyebrow lift are visible immediately after the procedure. They are fully appreciated after one month when the swelling has completely subsided. The upper face appears rejuvenated. The open and refreshed look gives the patient a more dynamic and lively appearance. To maximize the results, it is recommended to massage the scars to soften them and make them as discreet as possible. They should also be protected from UV rays by applying sunscreen and wearing sunglasses for one year.

Complications from a temporal brow lift are rare. Reversible sensory disturbances above the eyebrow can occur. A hypertrophic or pigmented scar is a possible therapeutic risk. The risk is greatly reduced by following postoperative instructions.
